Canadian Immigration Officials have blocked a Russian migrant a citizenship grant and potentially deported her because she was convicted of a crime back in Russia.

According to Reason, Maria Kartasheva’s request for a citizenship grant has been blocked by Canadian Immigration officials. The reason was that she was convicted of the crime of speaking out about atrocities against Ukraine in the current conflict against Russia.
Moreover, following the blocking of her request for citizenship, she could also be potentially deported and face her heinous offense wherein she will serve in prison for eight years.

Canadian Immigration Officials May Consider Russian Migrant’s Citizenship
According to the same author, there is still a chance that Maria Kartasheva, a Russian immigrant, was denied a citizenship grant to reverse the previous action and she will be granted citizenship, says Canadian Immigration officials.
The Russian immigrant stated that the issuance of the first horrific decision of denying her citizenship was said to be ridiculous as speaking out against horrifying crimes is not the kind of crime that can ever justify denial of her citizenship or deportation. She also stated that she is happy now that sanity prevailed in her case and was granted citizenship.
