The US Army has stressed the service was clear in laying out its requirements for a modular open systems architecture and that the service wants Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft competitors to deliver proposals in demonstrating its capacities.

U.S. Army’s Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft to Get an Upgrade

According to GE Aerospace, the US Army’s Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) is a tiltrotor aircraft that takes off and vertically lands like a helicopter. The Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft also flies like an airplane.

The Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft would also have a future upgrade with several components being supplied by GE Aerospace, this includes the powerful network called the Digital Backbone that acts as the nerve center for all the data traffic on board.

Enhancement for U.S. Army’s Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft

According to Defense News, the US Army has an intent for the next generation of vertical lift (Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft) with the enhancement of speed, range, agility, and rapid integration of advanced mission equipment. This is so allies can always stay one step ahead.

The US Army’s current fleet is divided into three helicopter categories for different needs such as utility, cargo, and attack/reconnaissance. But, with Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft the three categories will be in one aircraft.
