The U.S Army has ordered AeroVironment RQ-20 Puma unmanned aircraft systems worth $86.4 million
US Army Orders AeroVironment RQ-20 Puma Drones
According to The Defense Post, the US Army has made a contract with American defense firm AeroVironment for an additional supply of AeroVironment RQ-20 Puma drones that is worth over $86 million.
The award is a modification to an existing contract amounting to nearly $32 million, encompassing the procurement of additional AeroVironment RQ-20 Puma nits and the provisions of training support services.
The completion date of the aforementioned contract is estimated to be September 30, 2024, while the designated work will be carried out at AeroVironment’s Mechanicsburg facility in Pennsylvania.

What is an AeroVironment RQ-20 Puma Drones?
According to the Defence Blog, the AeroVironment RQ-20 Puma stands as a small Unmanned Aircraft System designated to directly support the battalion and below levels.
Moreover, the AeroVironment RQ-20 Puma systems can easily carried by personnel and are operated by two trained operators which provides automatic tracking of moving targets and the flexibility of the mobile operations.
AeroVironment RQ-20 Puma drones are also equipped with a full gimbaled sensor, which concurrently delivers Electro-Optical, Infrared, and illuminator capabilities.
