  1. Bowling Green, with 71,861 residents, tops the list as the most hazardous city in Kentucky, reporting 343 violent crimes and 4,446 property crimes in 2020.
  2. Oak Grove, despite its modest population of 7,299, ranks as the riskiest city with 575 violent crimes per 100,000 people.
  3. Mayfield, the third most dangerous city with 9,791 residents, faces challenges due to high rates of rape and murder.
  4. Shively, home of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, is the second most hazardous city in terms of violent crimes per 100,000, reporting 30 aggravated assaults, 35 robberies, and 8 rapes in 2020.
  5. Paducah, established by William Clark in 1827, is the sixth most dangerous city, experiencing 993 property crimes in 2020.
  6. Newport, the fifth most hazardous city, boasts the highest rate of arsons and reported 12 sexual assaults among its 14,874 residents.
  7. Owensboro, renowned for its barbecue and music culture, holds the ninth spot with 2,666 violent crimes and 3,849 property crimes per 100,000 residents.
  8. Maysville, with 8,695 residents, ranks eighth with 299 violent crimes and 3,197 property crimes per 100,000.
  9. Winchester, east of Lexington, secures the ninth position with 106 burglaries and 8 robberies in 2020, emphasizing the importance of securing valuables.
  10. Middlesboro, with 8,968 residents, is deemed one of the riskiest locations, reporting 3,044 property crimes and 323 violent crimes per 100,000 in 2020.
