With a fresh face at the helm, the Rupert Police Department embraces a festive twist to its holiday traditions!
Rupert Police Department’s Heartwarming Holiday Initiative: Spreading Joy, One Gift at a Time
Officers from the Rupert Police Department (RPD) came up with a sweet idea to bring holiday pleasure to the town during their yearly Christmas party. They came up with the idea to make gift bags for kids in cooperation with the Rupert Police Officer Association and Jet Employment Solutions in Burley.
“We pitched an idea to raise funds and team with the Rupert Police Department to spread joy across the community,” said Jesse Torres, a worker at Jet Employment Solutions. “In less than a week, we raised over $600 to purchase toys for donation.”
The joint endeavor hopes to make kids smile in unexpected ways. When officers are on patrol and come across a car with kids in it, they will give them a special gift. More than 60 items have already been donated for the giveaway as a result of the overwhelmingly positive response from the community.

Post-Christmas Gift Distribution and Community Support
To arrange for the present distribution, project creator Jesse Torres contacted the police department. The department’s dedication to helping the community is reflected in Sgt. Joshua Martin’s statement, “As a police department, we strive to serve and support our communities, so we jumped at the opportunity.”
Gifts will still be given out after Christmas as part of this ongoing project. Santa Claus will visit with children at his final appointments on the square, and the police will distribute whatever gifts are left. The cooperative attitude among the community, local companies, and the police department shows a dedication to building goodwill and giving kids special experiences throughout the holidays.
