Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont announced and his administration that more households will receive SNAP benefits in the state if they meet the criteria.

More Households To Receive SNAP Benefits

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits is a federally funded program that is implemented at the state level. This has helped millions of American families in the country to receive monthly benefits to meet their daily needs and buy nutritious foods.

In a published article in Prime Publishers, Gov. Lamont and his administration say that more households will receive the SNAP benefits. It is estimated that 8,959 individuals in 4,980 households will be added to the program. They will receive an average of $185 a month.

Gov. Lamont Released a Statement

According to an article published on the official website of the State of Connecticut, Gov. Ned Lamont said, “This simple change brings in new federal funding to help Connecticut families put food on the table and supermarkets, grocery stores, and farmers markets operate in neighborhoods that might otherwise become food deserts.”

Meanwhile, Social Services Commissioner Andrea Barton Reeves said, “The Department of Social Services is proud to deliver essential benefits to Connecticut residents. SNAP benefits are proven to improve overall health and nutrition, and families at this income level will benefit from this assistance.”

Furthermore, Gov. Lamont hopes that immigrants in the state will apply for the program to benefit from the approved federally funded SNAP benefits to avoid food insecurity.
