Sunday Hits 90—Then Monday Could Hit Harder. Dallas, Here’s Your Weather Warning

Well, Dallas, if you’ve been enjoying the nice spring breezes and mild temps, it’s time to buckle up—Mother Nature’s about to flip the switch. We’re rolling into a weekend that’s feeling more like July than April, and next week might bring some stormy drama with it.

This Weekend’s Forecast: Summer Mode, Activated

Today? Lovely. Highs in the upper 70s to low 80s, just enough warmth to make you want to linger outside a little longer. But Saturday and Sunday? Whole different story.

By Saturday afternoon, we’ll be brushing up against the upper 80s, and Sunday could easily push us into the low 90s. That’s hot for April—even for Texas. And just to make things extra spicy, we’ve got wind gusts coming in up to 40 mph. So yeah, your patio umbrella? Might want to lay that thing down now.

It’s that dry, dusty, hairdryer-style heat with wind strong enough to knock your hat off and send your trash bin into your neighbor’s yard.

Winds That Mean Business

Let’s talk about the wind real quick. Starting Saturday and especially into Sunday, we’re looking at steady winds from the south around 15–25 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph. That’s enough to mess with your weekend plans if you’re trying to set up a picnic, grill outside, or keep a canopy in place.

Moral of the story: If it’s light, tie it down. If it’s inflatable, bring it inside.

Then Comes Monday… and It Might Get Rough

Just when we start getting used to the early summer vibes, the atmosphere might throw us a curveball. Beginning Monday, forecasters are watching the skies closely for signs of severe storms. The Storm Prediction Center has already flagged North Texas for a 15% risk of severe weather—which, in weather-speak, means there’s something brewing, and it’s not to be taken lightly.

Right now, it’s too early to say exactly what we’ll get, but the potential is there for strong winds, hail, and even isolated tornadoes. It’s not a guarantee—but it is enough to say: hey, let’s keep an eye on this.

Here’s How You Can Stay Ahead of It All:

  • Hydrate – seriously. It’s gonna be hot. Don’t wait until you feel dizzy.

  • Limit Outdoor Time – Especially in the afternoons. That sun’s no joke.

  • Tie Down or Bring In Stuff – Trash cans, chairs, yard tools… all of it.

  • Stay Weather-Aware – Check your favorite weather app Sunday night and first thing Monday. Things could change quickly.

  • Have a Plan – Know where you’d go if a severe storm hits and make sure your emergency kit is stocked just in case.

It’s classic Texas spring—beautiful one minute, unpredictable the next. Enjoy the sun while it’s here, but don’t get too comfortable. The heat’s about to crank up, and the sky could get a little rowdy next week.
