Severe Weather Alert: Charlotte Residents, Prepare for a Stormy Surprise!

Severe Weather Alert: Charlotte Residents, Prepare for a Stormy Surprise!

If you’ve been loving the recent stretch of beautiful weather, enjoy it while it lasts—because things are about to get interesting. The Queen City is in for a ride this week, with everything from warm sunshine to storms and gusty winds. Here’s what you need to know to stay ahead of the curve.

Saturday: A Gorgeous Start

Saturday is shaping up to be a near-perfect spring day. Expect partly sunny skies and a comfortable high of 78°F (26°C). A light breeze will make it feel even better, so it’s a great day to get outside, whether you’re hitting the trails, relaxing on a patio, or firing up the grill. But don’t let the calm fool you—changes are brewing just around the corner.

Sunday: Here Come the Clouds

Sunday morning kicks off with mostly cloudy skies and a few scattered showers. While it won’t be a washout, don’t be surprised if you get caught in some light drizzle. The temperature will still be pleasant at around 75°F (24°C), but the sky will start looking a little more ominous as the day goes on. And that’s just a preview of what’s coming.

Monday: Storms & Strong Winds—Stay Alert!

If there’s one day you should be keeping a close eye on the forecast, it’s Monday. A strong weather system is moving in, bringing the potential for gusty winds, heavy rain, and even some hail. The morning starts off cloudy, but by afternoon, things could get rough.

Winds could gust up to 40 mph, strong enough to knock down branches and cause power outages. Showers and thunderstorms will roll through, and some could be strong. Highs will reach 72°F (22°C), but with the stormy conditions, it won’t feel as comfortable. If you have anything lightweight outside—like patio furniture or decorations—it’s a good idea to secure them now.

Tuesday & Wednesday: A Break in the Action

After Monday’s mess, Tuesday will be a welcome relief. While the skies will still be mostly cloudy, the humidity will drop, making it feel much more pleasant. Expect a high of around 72°F (22°C).

By Wednesday, the sun will start making a comeback. Morning clouds will gradually clear, and we’ll see more sunshine in the afternoon. Temperatures will climb to 77°F (25°C), making for a pretty solid midweek forecast.

Thursday & Friday: Feeling Like Summer

As we head toward the weekend, things heat up. Thursday will reach 79°F (26°C), and by Friday, we could be looking at a toasty 83°F (28°C). It’ll feel like an early taste of summer, but don’t get too comfortable—morning thunderstorms and afternoon showers could make an appearance, so keep an umbrella handy just in case.

How to Stay Safe & Ready

  • Keep an Eye on the Forecast: Monday’s storms could intensify, so stay updated.
  • Secure Outdoor Items: Strong winds could send anything lightweight flying—tie things down or bring them inside.
  • Prepare for Power Outages: Charge up your devices and have flashlights and extra batteries on hand.
  • Plan Your Outdoor Activities: If you have anything scheduled early in the week, you might want to adjust to avoid the storms.

Charlotte’s weather is proving once again that spring is unpredictable. From gorgeous sunny days to sudden storms, this week will keep us on our toes. Stay informed, stay safe, and enjoy the ride!
