70 Degrees Today, Freezing Tomorrow? Detroit’s Weather Whiplash Will Shock You!

If you’ve been enjoying the unseasonably warm weather in Detroit, don’t get too attached—it’s about to take a wild turn. We’re talking warm sunshine, stormy skies, and a chilly wake-up call all in the span of a few days. Let’s break it all down so you’re not caught off guard!

Saturday: Warm & Breezy, But Keep an Umbrella Close

Detroiters woke up to a mild, cloudy morning, but don’t let that fool you—temperatures will climb all the way to 72°F (22°C), making it feel like a perfect spring day.

However, a few showers could roll in around midday, so don’t be surprised if you feel a few raindrops during your afternoon plans. It won’t be a total washout, but you’ll want to keep an umbrella or rain jacket handy, just in case.

Sunday: Another Warm Day, But Storms Are Brewing

Sunday will still feel pretty nice, with a high of 69°F (21°C), but the atmosphere is getting a little more unstable. Clouds will thicken, and by the afternoon, strong winds and thunderstorms could make an appearance.

Some storms might bring heavy rain, gusty winds, and even some lightning, so if you have outdoor plans, have a backup plan just in case. It’s one of those days where it might start off nice but end with you running for cover.

Monday: Say Goodbye to Warm Weather—The Cold Is Back

Hope you didn’t pack away your winter coat, because Monday is bringing a temperature freefall.

After a weekend of 70-degree temps, Monday’s high will only reach 52°F (11°C). And it gets worse—overnight, temperatures will plummet to 28°F (-2°C), dipping below freezing. If you thought spring had fully arrived, Mother Nature is here to remind you that it’s still Michigan.

Tuesday & Wednesday: Chilly, Then Back to Storms

Tuesday will be cold and cloudy, with a high of just 43°F (6°C)—a big difference from the warm weekend.

By Wednesday, temperatures will rebound into the 60s, but the trade-off? Another round of thunderstorms. Some of these storms could be strong to severe, bringing hail and damaging winds, so it’s another day to watch the forecast closely.

What You Need to Do to Stay Prepared

Detroit’s weather is all over the place this week, so here’s what you can do to stay ahead of it:

Carry an umbrella for weekend showers & storms.
Be ready for strong winds and possible storms Sunday.
Keep your coat handy for Monday & Tuesday—it’s going to be cold.
Watch for potential severe storms on Wednesday.

Spring in Michigan never comes without surprises, and this weekend is proof of that. Stay safe, stay prepared, and get ready for a little bit of everything!
