An important fire, known as the 344 fire, has been burning in the southwest Miami-dade since March 13, 2025. The blaze has consumed more than 26,000 acres and caused closing and air quality problems. From March 22, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR) reported that the fire was 65%.
The rapid spread of the fire was motivated to close larger roads including American 1 and Card Sound Road, which disturbs the journey from Florida Keys. These closures resulted in delay in considerable traffic, with some commuters spread for four hours.
Work on handling the fire includes both air and ground strategies. Helicopters and small aircraft have been deployed to make water drops, while MDFR and Florida make tireless efforts on the ground to include the flames on Forest Service.
Wildfires have also increased health problems due to aggravated air quality. Residents in the affected areas have been recommended to stay indoors and limit external activities to get in touch with smoke and related pollutants.
From March 23, the authorities announced that the fire was under control. Miami-Dad County Mayor Danila Levin Kava praised the coordinated efforts of all agencies involved in the management of the fireplace.
