Who knew a Hyundai Accent could maneuver threw so many obstacles?
It started with a broken tail light. Then, the officer ran the plate. It turned out the Hyundai Accent was stolen in Northglenn, Colorado. The car was also involved in a robbery in Lakewood. After stop sticks, a roadblock, and a deputy’s cruiser didn’t stop the driver, though, three Idaho Springs snow plow operators took matters into their own hands.
Who knew a subcompact sedan could maneuver like this?
Police attempted to halt the 27-year-old driver using stop sticks, which didn’t work. Then the driver blew through an active roadblock. The suspect also struck a deputy’s vehicle before continuing on down I-70.
Since the highway is a three-laner, the stolen Accent had plenty of space to evade police.
Eventually, three snow plow drivers understood the situation and worked together to line up on I-70.
The dashcam footage shows the massive rigs slowing to a stop together. The Accent driver desperately swerves the car back and forth, looking for an out that didn’t exist.
The suspect admitted to being both drunk and high. He also said he was out looking for businesses to steal from.
The driver likely faces several charges relating to vehicle theft, DUI, and evading or eluding police.
