Uriel Perez, Jvani Sanchez, and Kevin Valdez Ramirez allegedly conspired to transport migrants from a breach in the border wall near Ardrade, California, to a residence across the state line in Yuma, Arizona.
The two United States citizens and one Mexican national allegedly carried 24 people across the border in a fake Border Control K-9 truck. The modified Ford F-150 looked so similar to the official trucks that it was like a clone.
The white Ford F-150 was customized to match a local federal K-9 unit down to every last detail. Even the license plate. Plus, the drivers wore dark green shirts and hats to resemble border patrol uniforms.
According to News Nation Now, border agents spotted the truck approaching and left the border wall. Upon further inspection, footprints from about 30 people were found leaving the wall.
Agents with the Border Patrol Anti-Smuggling Unit followed the K-9 truck to the garage of a home in Yuma and then scrambled to make arrests.
People from neighboring properties ran, but the grains found 24 people in the home and put them in custody. After getting a search warrant, officers found fake uniforms inside.
The suspects admitted to being involved with smuggling and face arraignment in federal court in Arizona.
