That was bad. But it could have been a lot worse.
A heated altercation between two drivers escalated into a dangerous and unexpected disaster. In a popular video, an irate driver got trapped between two vehicles after stepping out of her car to confront another motorist. This unnecessary, almost deadly road rage event serves as a shocking reminder to keep your cool while driving.
A road rage altercation led to a woman pinning herself between her car’s door and its roofline after rolling into another vehicle
It started with road rage. A video shows a woman opening her Hyundai Sonata’s door to yell at another driver. As with every case of road rage, logic isn’t in the equation. Consequently, she got out of her car on a busy street to confront the person in the camera vehicle.
After the cameraperson responded, “You’re the one swerving. I’m just the one following you,” the Hyundai driver lost it. She stood up in the road, responding “I’m the one swerving? I’m the one swerving now?” However, a moment later, her dark blue sedan begins rolling forward. Realizing that her car is rolling away, she drops her would-be confrontation to recover her car.
However, she wasn’t fast enough. The car rolls into a nearby Toyota Sequoia SUV. Tragically, she was halfway inside her vehicle at the time. Worse yet, the angle of the impact pinned her between the open door and the vehicle’s roofline. It’s unclear from the video, but the road rager almost certainly sustained injury from the violent squeeze.
Tragically, Americans are all too quick to let their emotions and fragile pride impact their decision-making on the road. According to The Zebra, 96% of American motorists polled say they witnessed an act of road rage in a six-month period. What’s worse, the NHTSA says 66% of fatalities on roads in the United States involved aggressive driving.
It’s a helpful, albeit sobering reminder that road rage doesn’t end well. In this case, it ends in embarrassing and potentially deadly calamity. Stay calm, alert, and alive.
