Police in Massachusetts looking for more victims after two arrested in alleged transnational home improvement scam – Fall River Reporter

Police in Massachusetts are looking for the public’s help after arrests were made in an alleged home improvement scam.

According to police, on Monday, members of the Salem Patrol Division working with detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division arrested 38-year-old Billy O’Brien of Wellesley, MA and 46-year-old Thomas Maughan of Waltham, MA for various felony charges related to contractor fraud.

O’Brien and Maughan appear to be part of a transnational criminal organization engaged in home improvement scams. Members of this criminal group go door to door and offer various home improvement work in exchange for a down payment. Members of the group would then collect the money, do some demolition work and never return to complete the job.

The companies that O’Brien and Maughan posed to work for were “Everbuild Masonry and Waterproofing” and “Base Pro Construction.”

Members of the public who have had contact with Billy O’Brien and/or Thomas Maughan are requested to contact the Salem Police Department at (978) 744-1212.
