He has at least four years but a max of 12.
It’s no secret that the decision to drive while under the influence isn’t only illegal, but it’s also morally wrong. This is the case because it causes numerous fatal car wrecks each year. Recently, a man who got behind the wheel while intoxicated and caused a horrendous accident was sentenced, and it looks like he’ll be behind bars for quite some time for the events related to his DUI charge.
People have several opinions that are better than the decision to drive while under the influence
According to 8 News Now, a man was driving on March 22, 2024, on Las Vegas Boulevard when he slammed into another vehicle. He was driving a Dodge Challenger and had made the decision to drive while under the influence. Sadly, he rammed into the car, which was a Hyundai, so hard that it separated into two parts. His car happened to roll over as a result of the force. Sadly, the 38-year-old man in the Hyundai passed away, and his passenger sustained “substantial injuries.”
Of course, the man’s decision to drive while under the influence is the main factor in this vehicle accident. However, authorities reviewed the Dodge Challenger’s internal computer and found it had traveled 140 miles per hour. Notably, it reached these speeds about three seconds before the airbags deployed. The report says the man pressed the accelerator full throttle and was going 127 mph about one millisecond before the crash.
Regarding his DUI charge, the man took a plea deal last year. The deal said that he would be sentenced to prison but that prosecutors could not argue for a specific amount of time. He was officially sentenced on February 13th to at least four years in prison. However, he has a maximum of 12 years behind bars.
