2022 Toyota Tundra just hit 200k miles with original turbo V6

White Toyota Tundra driving through mud.

The coolest thing about this $26k, 3-year-old truck is that Toyota will replace its engine for free!

Toyota rolled out the third generation of it full-size Tundra for the 2022 model year. Toyota made the controversial choice to toss its bulletproof 5.7-liter V8 and put a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V6 in the new Tundra (similar to Ford’s EcoBoost). Off the bat, a handful of the first Tundras suffered wastegate issues . Toyota had to pivot to a new manufacturer for the part. REcently, its admitted that metal shavings leftover from short block manufacturing are wrecking main bearings. The automaker pledged to recall and replace 100,000 V6 engines.

This is one of the only marks against the automaker’s stellar reputation for reliability. But while the new engines naysayers jeer “I told you so’s,” at least one third-gen Tundra just hit 200k miles on its original engine.

The highest mileage 3rd-gen Toyota Tundra around?

Nico Demattio, writer at The Drive, spotted this gem for sale on the Tundras.com forum. The truck in question is a black-on-black 2022 model. It appears to have the base, plastic “SR” trim grille and cloth interior. The truck also has packages for upgraded rims and rock rails. Overall it’s a great-looking truck. But what really catches your eye is the mileage.

This Tundra originally rolled off a Florida lot in 2022. It’s driven an average of 300 miles every day, and its odometer is sitting at 210,444 miles. It’s had no major issues, though its had 25 services for fluid changes, tire rotations, and the like.

The dealer is asking $26,500 for this 210k truck. If that sounds like a lot, note that it’s on its original turbocharged V6 engine. Besides being impressive mileage for a supposedly problematic engine, that means it’s due for the recall work. That’s right, the lucky buyer of this Tundra can roll it into their nearest Toyota dealership and have a brand-new 3.4-liter turbocharged V6 dropped in.

If this Tundra’s other systems–such as its 10-speed Aisin automatic transmission–are good for another 100k miles, it is quite the bargain!
