In Jackson, Michigan, the Jackson County Animal Shelter opened up their hearts and their arms this week to help a young Labrador retriever mix they named Soopr’ Grl.
Earlier in the week, Soopr’ Grl and her mother arrived at the shelter, and Soopr’ Grl’s leg was badly broken. Her previous family didn’t know what happened.
On Monday, the dog underwent surgery at Michigan State University with the hopes of saving her leg. Hospital expenses had been estimated to be about $6,000. A kind-hearted donor stepped up a match program starting with $3,000. The community has been adding to the balance.
According to Wilx10News, Soopr’Girl walked out of the hospital on Tuesday afternoon and is headed back to the Jackson County Animal Shelter. The surgeons were able to save her leg. The shelter director will be fostering her during recovery.

After the dog heals, she will undergo two months of physical therapy.
To donate, funds can be sent to the Jackson County Animal Shelter located at 3370 Spring Arbor Road in Jackson, Michigan 49203.
