At the Los Angeles County Animal Control in Lancaster, California, a family arrived on Friday with their one-year-old beautiful Belgian Malinois. The volunteer couldn’t help but notice how frightened the dog was and how uninterested the owners seemed to be when filling out the surrender forms.
The volunteer Saacha shared the following:
i inquired as to ‘why?’ if they didn’t mind me asking.
The owners promptly told the volunteer they were moving to a place where they couldn’t have dogs. Saacha offered to help them procure an ESA letter (Emotional Support Animal). The couple refused and said it was better just to surrender their dog.
it’s going to be tough for her to get out of here alive, Sacha said.
The couple replied they knew, and then turned around and walked away as if they had simply donated their couch to Goodwill. It was if they didn’t have a care in the world, but their dog suffered the heartbreak of the separation.
meanwhile this beauty had to be dragged in, scared, with her tail between her legs, looking back at her family as they left.
There is no doubt that pets being surrendered by their owners are the saddest scenes to watch; not for the humans, but for those loyal pets who, if they could cry, the tears would roll down their snouts into puddles on the floor.
