The worst pickup truck drivers have one thing in common and it all comes down to what brand they pick.
People study the most random things these days. For example, so-called experts have determined the worst pickup truck drivers and they have one thing in common. They all drive the Ram 1500. So, is it the truck or the people?
The worst pickup truck drivers use the Ram 1500
According to LendingTree, the Ram 1500 is owned by the worst pickup truck drivers. The other types of the worst drivers own a Tesla or Subaru SUV.
Tesla technically has the worst drivers overall, which is no surprise. The Tesla autopilot system can’t even detect if someone is sitting in the driver’s seat or not.
Tesla drivers had 36.94 accidents, DUIs, speeding tickets, and citations per 1,000 drivers. Then Ram landed in second place with 33.92 incidents per 1,000 drivers. Surprisingly, Subaru is in third place with a score of 32.85.
Ram also is the truck brand with the highest rate of accidents. It rang in with 23.15 accidents per 1,000 drivers. Tesla had 26.67 and Subaru had 22.89. Also, Ram has the highest rate of incidents in New Jersey.
The study took place between January 1, 2024 through December 31, 2024. During this time LendingTree analyzed insurance inquiries from 30 automotive brands to categorize drivers.
The Ram 1500 doesn’t exactly have any safety awards from 2024 but has plenty of good ratings from the Insurance Institutes of Highway Safety (IIHS).
It does have 18 marginal and poor scores, though. The 2024 Ford F-150 only has eight poor and marginal scores.
