There is still no word on why the accident happened.
There’s quite a bit that happens in trucking news. However, you don’t usually hear 18-wheelers crashing through car showrooms in truck driving. Still, this happened recently, leaving a ton of destruction, including destroying multiple vehicles. For now, no one knows why the semi-truck crashed despite some assuming the driver was driving while under the influence.
Semi-truck accident headlines are in trucking news, but they don’t happen often
As mentioned, trucking news involves some accidents, but not usually ones like this. According to KCCI, a semi-truck in Colfax, Iowa, caused quite a bit of destruction on the night of February 9th. This is so much the case that it sped over a ditch, hit a pole, and then destroyed several cars at a showroom. The accident took place at the Colfax Tractor and Auto. There were 18 unsold vehicles that the semi-truck “completely destroyed.”
Sadly, most people don’t consider how circumstances like this impact business owners. Jeff Bucklin, one of the managers, said, “It looks like a tornado went through here in the car lot.” Still, there is some good news. The semi-truck driver was not hurt in the accident. Sadly, the owners of the dealership say that it will take time before they are back to business as usual. However, the dealership plans to remain open despite the destruction of 18 vehicles.
Of course, this is one of the biggest fears of a person who owns car showrooms. Sure, they have insurance, but no one is privy to what their policies cover. The report does not mention a reason why the semi-truck driver crashed into the dealership. Many would assume it may be related to driving while under the influence but that has not been said publically. This is a developing story.
