In Cleveland, Ohio, emergency rescuers desperately tried to save a dog reported to be stranded out on the ice on Lake Erie Saturday afternoon.
According to the Cleveland Division of Fire and the Cleveland Police, the dog had been spotted on the ice, but as rescuers approached him, he kept running away and acted as if he didn’t want to be saved. The dog was reported to be wearing a collar, so chances are he does have an owner somewhere. Neither the dog nor the owner have yet to be identified.

The first responders arrived at East 143rd Street and Lakeshore Boulevard along with a dive team who attempted to try and capture the dog. Unfortunately, the rescue was called off later in the afternoon because of inclement weather approaching.
There were no plans for rescue personnel to continue the rescue efforts on Sunday, and according to the Fairview Park Fire Department captain, it is hoped the dog can make his way safely back to shore.
