At the Valley Animal Center in Fresno, California, seven-year-old Mother Gothal has been at the shelter for more than 1000 days. Is it because she’s a pit bull type with a big head and sturdy looking body? Maybe she wasn’t pretty enough, or maybe she was too old? After all, many families come to the shelter to adopt puppies, and the senior dogs are too often overlooked. Why?
By the time a dog has celebrated a few birthdays, she likely won’t chew up that expensive shoe, will ask to go outside to go to the bathroom and will enjoy being a couch potato on those afternoons or evenings when a new Netflix movie debuts.
Back in 2023, a family decided to adopt her; it was the best Christmas present Mother Gothal ever had. The staff had been overjoyed. And off she went – everyone believing she would be living the best life possible for the rest of her life. Sadly, after just a few months, she was returned to the shelter.
In August 2024, Pet Rescue Report highlighted her story and asked for everyone’s help sharing her plight and helping her to find a fairytale forever home.
She just makes all of us want to cry, so here’s our plea at Pet Rescue Report asking everyone to share this dog’s story and video and help her find a loving home again. We don’t know why she was returned, but there has been an increase in dogs at shelters, we can only hope the statistics improve and more dogs are adopted while less are surrendered.
Please share her story again. Mother Gothal is nearly eight years old. “Hi everyone! She is a lab/pit-bull mix that came into our care as an owner surrender. Mother Gothal has been returned three times, due to housing issues. Since her return, she has been very upset because she rather be at a home than here. Her ideal home would be a home where she is the only dog. She would also love a couch so she is able to be your cuddle buddy!
