A popular video shows a brazen escape on a dirt bike after bystanders sent a cop off on a wild goose chase.
Running away from the police on a dirt bike doesn’t seem like a solid escape plan. Well, that didn’t stop a young motorcycle rider from trying to ditch a police SUV in a chase. Fortunately for the rider, the community had something to say about it.

An Instagram video with over 422,000 likes shows a Ford Police Interceptor SUV chasing a young rider on a bright orange dirt bike. The helmet-less rider leads the SUV on a chase as onlookers watch before turning left onto a dirt path.
Understandably, the knobby-tired bike makes short work of gaining a lead on the big, heavy SUV. You can hear spectators encouraging the rider in the video, “Run, run, run!”
Over dirt, the lightweight motorbike is much better suited to moving quickly and changing directions. As a result, the two-stroke dirt bike emerges from the hidden path well ahead of the police vehicle, leaving the officer to guess where to take the chase.
It’s at this point that the crowd, clearing routing for a successful escape for the biker, steps in. One bystander gestures to the approaching police vehicle shouting, “He went that way!” Other onlookers joined in, pointing in the same direction.
It was, of course, in the wrong direction. An eruption of laughter followed as the police officer slowly turned and drove away. At least in that moment, the dirt bike rider seemed to get away from the pursuing police officer.
As expected, commenters on the “copsorbikers” Instagram post were less than sympathetic. One viewer commented, “Now that’s what you call community support!” Other viewers speculated that the police officer abandoned the chase for a different reason. “Cop knows exactly who [is] on that bike and where he lives,” a commenter responded.
