Memphis, TN cops bust 2 out of 3 thieves that stole $60k worth of diesel

Three men in Tennessee allegedly stole $60,000 worth of diesel. Only 2 of the suspects have been caught so far.

Trump tariffs have been making people a bit nervous. The price of gas and diesel is expected to rise. As a result, three criminals in Memphis, Tennessee took matters into their own hands. They allegedly stole $60,000 worth of fuel. 

Three men allegedly stole $60k worth of diesel 

Three men in Memphis, Tennessee allegedly stole $60,000 worth of diesel, or about 18,000 gallons. Two of the men have been arrested and the Covington Police Department has a warrant for the third suspect. 

Allegedly, they struck multiple gas stations across the south. The investigation into this matter started when Covington police officers learned about fraudulent credit sales at a gas station on East Liberty Avenue. 

According to Fox 13 Memphis, 54 fraudulent sales occurred between September 9 and December 2. They added up to about $25,000. 

Gas station employees shared that they saw suspicious trucks fill barrels with diesel and charge it to fraudulent credit accounts. Similar incidents occurred in Fayette and Hardeman counties. 

Officers got a warrant for the first suspect, 22-year-old Ryan Hughs. Detectives found several debt cards and cellphones at his home. They also found his Ford F-350 that was confirmed to be used during the thefts. 

The second suspect was identified as 23-year-old Jordan Sykes. He was arrested four days after Ryan was. Both men were charged with theft over $1,000. 

However, the third suspect is still at large. He has been identified as Andre Davis. He is a wanted fugitive who is avoiding capture by law enforcement. Andre Davis might be seen in a green Ford F-250 with a Tennessee tag or a white Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with a Mississippi tag.
