How about this for a stranger than fiction story? Have you heard about the hotel guest in the Netherlands who left her hotel door open to walk her dog, and when she returned, there was a seal taking a nap in the room?
The woman had been staying at the hotel Pier 7 in the beach town of Vlissingen, about 70 miles from Rotterdam, when the hotel staff had been notified a guest had reported a seal in her bedroom.
According to the Zeeland Animal Welfare Foundation, the hotel at first thought it had been a prank, but after the animal had been confirmed in the room a rescue team, Reddingsteam Zeedieren Nederland RTZ, were dispatched to the hotel. Rescuers stated the seal was “quite grumpy due to his disturbed beauty sleep,” however they were able to coax him into a seal basket and relocate him to a more seal suitable napping spot.
Despite being a bit grumpy, the seal didn’t get aggressive. The animals like to nap wherever the moment’s inspiration might be including the middle of a road or even a terrace.

Nonetheless, forgetting that surprised moment the seal was spotted stretched out and relaxing in the hotel room, everyone was pretty much in awe and all smiles having experienced the unusual situation.
No one was hurt – neither people nor the seal!
