If you drive a Subaru Forester then you might need to visit a local dealership for maintenance. Subaru issued a recall because some models have defective wheels. As a result, owners could lose control while driving.
Recall for Subaru Forester SUVs due to defective wheels
If you own a Subaru Forester then pay attention! Subaru has issued a recall for about 20,000 models from 2025. The Forester SUVs equipped with 18” aluminum alloy wheels could have defective wheel mountings that may lead to the loss of stability.
Basically, the wheels have an incorrectly specified wheel lug seat surface, the wheels may have been improperly attached.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, (NHSTA) this increases the risk of vehicle instability, crashes, and injuries.
Drivers at risk will be notified via mail beginning on March 24, 2025. You can also enter your 17-digit V.I.N. on the NHTSA site to see if your Forester is at risk.
If your Forester is included in this recall, you will need to visit a local dealership for service. Technicians will inspect the wheels and replace the wheels as necessary at no cost to owners. You do not have to return to the same location where you purchased your vehicle.

Subaru shared that it’s unaware of any accidents related to this problem. There also haven’t been any warranty claims. This issue was spotted when workers noticed the incorrect lug seat surfaces on the assembly line.
Dealers were immediately notified to prevent 2025 Forester models from being delivered to owners or used before repairs can be made.
