The driver says he does not remember the accident.
Car wrecks are known to cause severe damage to whatever vehicles or structures they impact. However, what usually isn’t the case is the driver not knowing they caused an accident. This happened recently when a man who may or may not have been driving under the influence crashed into a Waffle House in Tennessee. Now, he may be facing a DUI charge.
It’s unclear if the man was driving while under the influence during the car wreck, but his actions suggest so
It’s not unheard of for car wrecks to involve drivers crashing into popular restaurants. In fact, there’s no way this is the first time it’s happened at a Waffle House. According to News Nation Now, a man in Memphis, Tennessee, had no recollection of doing this. He told police that he fell asleep in his vehicle and woke up inside the restaurant on January 31st at around 11 p.m.
Regarding the car wreck, the police say that the man drove a Buick over a concrete barrier and between two poles in front of the restaurant. In the end, the vehicle’s front bumper ended up inside the Waffle House. Luckily, no one inside the restaurant sustained any injuries. Again, the report does not say the man was driving under the influence. Still, it’s easy to assume that from this story.
As is the case after car wrecks such as these, the man is facing multiple traffic charges. They were unspecified, but it’s not outside the realm of possibility that one might include a DUI charge. The police also took the man to the hospital for having non-critical injuries.
