The NYC Second Chance Rescue rushed to the aid of four terribly neglected and discarded puppies on Monday night after a municipal shelter in Georgia contacted them for help. The puppies had been handed to the staff over the counter by the abusers, who seemed to have been oblivious to the cruelty and pain the puppies, in their very short lives, had already been exposed and thus far had painfully endured.
Rescuers immediately granted approval to race the puppies to a 24-hour animal hospital where they are currently being administered life-saving care and treatment.
According to the rescue organization, one of the puppies had been bleeding from her eyes, her body riddled with open sores and infection and no doubt had clearly been in severe pain. The other puppies appeared to be in the same heartbreaking condition.
Veterinarians are treating the puppies for severe dermatitis and mange.
It is not known how long these puppies have been suffering, and they are now receiving the care and pain management they need and deserve.
The shelter is in the process of filing charges and an investigation is currently active.
