Sky high insurance rates make 3 states the most expensive for car ownership

Many people are looking for the best cars to buy. However, there’s more to consider beyond the price of car notes. Notably, this includes finding car insurance providers that fit into your budget. Sadly, what people pay for owning a vehicle also depends on where they live. In fact, three states – Louisiana, Nevada, and Florida- are the most for car ownership.

Car insurance providers charge more based on states

Car insurance providers are essential to the vehicle ownership experience. However, they can make driving a great deal more expensive. According to Auto Blog, this is especially the case with Nevada, Louisiana, and Florida, where drivers will pay a proverbial arm and leg. Nevada is the most expensive with the average cost to own a car being around $6,119.

Regarding car insurance providers, drivers will pay an average of $3,439 per year for coverage. Still, insurance isn’t the only expense. The outlet reports that people spend an average of $1,937 for fuel, $345 in sales tax, and $398 for repairs.

Florida is second on the list of the most expensive states to own a vehicle. The total ownership cost is about $5,682. Car insurance providers charge an average of $3,267. Fuel costs come out to $1,726, sales tax amounts to $293, and repairs are around $396. Louisiana also isn’t cheap, as total ownership costs average $5,663. Drivers pay around $2,989 for insurance, fuel is $1,886, sales tax is $400, and repairs are about $389.

Still, other factors influence how much a person pays to own a vehicle. This includes things like driving record, type of vehicle, and any modifications.
