Heartwarming Update: Dog who waited outside convenience store for her owner who passed away adopted by royal princess

In Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, a loyal dog named Moo Daeng captured the hearts of social media after her photos showed her waiting outside of a neighborhood corner store where her owner, who passed away two months ago, used to frequent.

The dog’s story went viral after being shared on Facebook “Korat: The City You Can Create.” The dog had always been by the side of her homeless owner who would try to sell his merchandise at local outdoor markets.

Everyday, the dog continued to nap in the same spot since her unnamed owner passed away in November 2024. The dog wore a red t-shirt to keep her warm. The friendly dog still believed her owner would come out of the store. Neighbors and area residents were heartbroken and compared her story to Hachiko – the faithful dog who waited nine years for the return of his owner at the train station in Tokyo after the professor passed away.

People left food and blankets for the dog, but she never made any inclinations as wanting to go home with anyone. That is – until a few days ago, when Princess Siribha Chudabhom, a niece of Thailand’s King Maha Vajiralongkorn, posted on her Facebook page that she wanted to allay all fears about the welfare of Moo Daeng. She stated she had heard of the dog’s plight when the video showing the dog lying in front of the 7-11 store made headlines.

The princess understands the dog has experienced a terrible trauma resulting in depression, even relating it to her own mental health depression conditions she has been dealing with for almost a decade. While humans are often able to hide their feelings, the princess stated that dogs show exactly how they feel.

The princess had gained permission from the owner of the store and local authorities before adopting her. The dog is currently being treated, evaluated and quarantined. She will then move to the royal residence in Chiang Mai.
