Police have made an arrest in a fatal shooting of a man in a Pacific Beach condominium complex on Sunday night.
Police responded at about 10:15 p.m. Sunday to calls about a violent argument followed by gunshots at the complex in the 1600 block of Chalcedony St. near Jewell St., where they found a man outside with a firearm who they detained and subsequently arrested.
Law enforcement then found a man in his fifties in a bedroom with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
“At this point, the exact details of the argument and events prior to the shooting are still under investigation,” said SDPD in a statement. “Detectives do believe that both men either live or have previously stayed at the condo and they knew each other.”
The suspect has been identified as 31-year-old Richard Herrman. He was arrested on murder and weapons charges. The victim’s identity will not be released at this time.
The condo was also the site of a SWAT standoff last October.
Police are asking anyone with information about this incident to call SDPD’s Homicide Unit at (619) 531-2293 or San Diego Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
