At the New York City Second Chance Rescue, a tiny emaciated dog was found in a Bronx apartment building just two nights ago. The non-profit animal rescue organization immediately rushed the pup to their partner veterinary hospital for life-saving care.
According to the rescue’s Facebook page, her condition was described as “horrific” and when rescuers arrived, the dog “was vomiting and weak. With just one look at here, you could feel her suffering.”
Veterinarians ran blood work and X-rays, and started documenting her body condition. Her first night she was in serious but stable condition. She was being treated for anemia, low proteins and enamel hypoplasia, all from malnutrition.
Baby Gina has been improving with every passing hour. Despite having many medical ailments due to the abuse, she is proving to be tiny but mighty.
Her biggest battles are that she has a urinary tract infection and is at high risk of refeeding syndrome, but we feel confident that her doctors will get her through this.
As time goes on, her rescuers are more optimistic she will be moving away from the possibility of complications.

Check out Jennifer Brooks with Gina. There’s a lot of love going on.
There is an active investigation and the rescue organization will share information when received.
We now have the privilege of showing her just how beautiful the world is and how much she is loved.
