At the Elmbrook Humane Society in Brookfield, Wisconsin, Sawyer had been part of a litter of Australian Cattle dog puppies who all arrived at the shelter together. Puppies being surrendered to shelters have become more more frequent, and the causes are many; from backyard breeding, puppy mills or simply from the negligence of owners failing to have their pets neutered and spayed.

Sawyer had been from a puppy mill; he and his brothers and sisters had been adjusting to life at the shelter with lots of interaction, socialization and of course lots of playtime.
Fortunately, puppies are adorable, and for sure, their chances for adoption are better than most older shelter pets, but nevertheless, homelessness for these tiny little ones break our hearts. Sawyer had been described as shy but endearing.
While he may be timid at first, his quiet, sweet personality hints at the loving companion he’s meant to be.
So here we have the adorable Sawyer. He’s “sad, alone and in a cone.” His siblings have all been adopted, and Sawyer looks up at his favorite humans with the saddest little face, as if asking “what about me?”

Check out his video. (turn on sound) Are they not the most heartbreaking little puppy whines from this little guy?
Sawyer was so lonely. Not only did he not have his litter mates to play with anymore, he didn’t have them to sleep and cuddle with either. People who saw the popular video wanted to help.
With the staff hoping Sawyer wouldn’t have to wait much longer, and the viewers all sharing the little puppy’s plight, social media helped to make this important connection.
YES! Sawyer has been adopted:
