In Martin County, Florida, a Rottweiler is being treated for injuries after she fell from the bed of a moving pickup truck earlier this week. The dog sustained bumps and scrapes, along with a broken rear knee.

According to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, it had been a motorist who witnessed the situation and then stopped to help the dog after seeing her fall from the truck and land on the side of the highway. The driver of the truck continued driving, possibly unaware that the dog had tumbled off the rear of the truck. The dog was found between the 105 and 110 exits. She was wearing a Minion collar.
The witness took the dog to receive emergency veterinary care, and the dog has been at the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast. She is currently on pain medication and veterinary care. Veterinarians estimate her to be middle aged to a senior. She is very sweet.

She is visibly depressed, however the staff and volunteers have been spending time with her giving her extra love and attention. The rescue organization says she is heavily lactating which means she is missing her puppies.

She will be on a five-day mandatory hold, and if her owners do not reclaim her within that time, she will be available for adoption. She has a long way to go before she’s healed. If you’d like to donate to this sweet dog, please visit www.hstc1.org/donate-now.
