You knock on a door. Then you hand over the food. You leave. That’s how a delivery is supposed to go. Right? But what if the customer thinks he ordered more than just a pizza? What if he thinks he ordered you? That’s what one Redditor claimed happened to her. Years later, she finally unburdened herself, posting her story to a subreddit called r/LetsNotMeet. Her account is an important reminder of how we all can watch out for those in our community.
Here’s the story according to Reddit user RunningInCircles234: the first time she delivered to a specific house, she found the owner a slightly awkward man in his upper 40s. He stared at her and said, “You’re really beautiful, you know that?” She thanked him and left. End of that, right? Nope, he called during another one of her shifts to order another pizza.
The creepy pizza customer persists
The second time, he was waiting. “Hey, it’s you again! How are you?” She told him she was tired. He chuckled. “I know that feeling pretty well.” Then he asked for her number. “I’d love to hang out with someone as gorgeous as you.” She made an excuse—she had a boyfriend. His face changed. “Oh, okay. I see.” He stood there, watching, silent, as she walked back to her car. She hoped she was finally rid of her admirer. but now such luck.
Here’s the kicker: She told her manager and coworkers that this guys was a creep. But no one stepped up to help out.
A week later, another order from the same house. But this time, something was different. When she arrived, the lights were off. No movement inside. Before she could knock, the door swung open. He stood there, dressed in a suit. “Would you like to go on a date with me tonight?” Yikes!
She said no. Again, she had a boyfriend. He laughed, stepped closer. “Honey, there’s no way a girl your age is in a serious relationship. If you go on a date with me, I’ll show you how a real man treats a girl.” Then he grabbed her.
Nope. Abosultely nope. Nope! She struggled. “Dude, please. I just want to go home.” But he tightened his grip. “I don’t care. Get inside NOW. We’re gonna have a good time.” Then he reached into his pocket. She thought: A knife? Buth she didn’t wait to find out. She swung, punching him in the stomach.
This Redditor admits she got lucky. “This stuns him for a few seconds,” she wrote. It was enough.
The pizza delivery driver’s daring escape
She ran for her car. He ran after her. “Why are you making this so f——- difficult?!” he screamed. He grabbed her, tried to yank her back out. She threw a half-empty soda bottle at his head. “Luckily it hits his head and he lets me go.” She slammed the door.
But he wasn’t done. He jumped onto the hood of her car, slamming a knife against the windshield. “Stop the f—— car!” She threw it into reverse, sped backward, swerving wildly. “He’s banging on my hood screaming,” she recalled. He lost his grip and tumbled off. She didn’t look back.
When the Redditor arrived back at the pizza shop, she told her story to her coworkers and they all apologized for not believing her sooner. The team called 911 and reported the incident. Then they waited.
The aftermath of a harrowing encounter
For two months, she jumped at shadows. Then the police called. He had tried again—with someone else. This time, it ended differently. The police chased after him and during a high-speed chase he ran a red light. A van slamming into the driver’s side of his car. She said: “By some sort of miracle, the driver of the van only sustained minor injuries while the psycho succumbed to his wounds long before the ambulance even arrived.”
For one pizza delivery driver, the nightmare ended. She concluded: “I don’t wish death on people, but after hearing about his death, I felt relieved.” She never had to see him again. Never had to fear his return. But she knew she wasn’t alone.
Her post struck a nerve with others. One commenters said: “I used to do pizza delivery until I got into a car accident on the job, and this made me really thankful I don’t work that job anymore.” Another wrote, “I had a similar thing happen when I was delivering… I made my male coworker take it, and he never ordered again.”
While this is just one story, its comments make it clear it’s not an isolated incident. It’s a great reminder to listen to those around us and protect them however we can. You can see the original Reddit post embedded below:
