Drivers should ensure they have run flat tires before taking risks.
Automotive technology has become quite advanced over the years. This is the case for many car features, but it also includes things like tires. Recently, one woman went viral online after saying her “run flat” tires caused damage to her Mercedes while. This happed as she was searching for a place to have her flat tire fixed. Now, she has hinted at legal action. Of course, many auto mechanics are already skeptical of run-flat tires.
She desperadly needed a fix for her tire
Recently, a TikTok user named Gabbi Egan took to the platform to share her story about needing to get a tire fixed. For context, she drives a Mercedes and says she reached out to the dealership about getting a tow. Of course, she knew that driving on a flat was bad, but the dealership informed her that she had run-flat tires. She says she even expressed concern based on what auto mechanics say about driving on a flat, and they assured her it was fine.
The woman went on to say she was unaware that she had run-flat tires. She then drove to get the flat tire fixed as the person she spoke to said she could. However, once reaching the auto mechanics, she learned that she had wheel damage and that she didn’t actually have run-flat tires. Specifically, she says the rim is scuffed. Later, she called Mercedes again, and they confirmed that she didn’t have run-flat tires. They had previously assumed she did based on her model car.
In the end, the Mercedes driver says she has a case, which implies legal action. However, she didn’t explicitly say that she would be filing a lawsuit over the miscomunication regarding getting her tire fixed.
With run-flat tires, drivers can typically travel about 50 miles as long as their speed is below 50 miles per hour. However, the distance and mileage requirement depends on the brand of tires.
