The giant pandas are making their public debut. If you can’t get to the zoo, however, make sure to tune into the panda cam which will be live from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Bao Li and Qing Bao have completed their quarantine, making all of smile at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute in Washington, D.C. Both three-year-old giant pandas can be watched via 40 cameras.
The pandas arrived from China in October. Members of the zoo had a special preview on January 10 and January 19.
A press release from Brandie Smith, the John and Adrienne Mars Director of the National Zoo stated:
Bao Li and Qing Bao have already won the hearts of our staff and volunteers, and we are excited to welcome panda fans back to the zoo – the only place in the nation where you can see giant pandas for free – and celebrate the newest chapter of our giant panda breeding and conservation program.
No doubt, it would be nearly impossible not to smile when watching these two pandas playing and just having fun.
If you want to visit and meet the giant pandas in “person” the zoo has a series of public events planned celebrating the pandas between January 28 and February 9, which includes a Lunar New Year event.
Check out the video, and remember – you can see the pandas for free.
Overnight, the cam will replay the broadcast from the day, so viewers around the world can watch the bears at their most active times.
The Giant Panda Cam is made possible by the support of The Boeing Company.
