A man walking in a crosswalk in the Teralta West neighborhood was struck by a pickup truck and seriously injured on Thursday morning.
Officers responded to the 4100 block of University Avenue around 7:47 a.m. Thursday to reports regarding a crash involving a vehicle and pedestrian, according to the San Diego Police Department.
Police determined after a preliminary investigation that the man, who was described as elderly, was walking north in a crosswalk moments before a 2019 Toyota Tacoma driven southbound in the 4000 block of Marlborough Avenue by a 29-year-old man struck the pedestrian.
The pedestrian was taken to a hospital where he was treated for a brain bleed, police said.
Investigators have not determined whether alcohol was a factor in the crash and it was unclear if the driver remained at the scene.
Anyone with information regarding the collision was urged to call San Diego County Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
