The Animal Charity of Ohio sent out a plea for help from the public on Wednesday afternoon, after rushing a dog to Medvet Hospital. The dog had been frozen to the ground and then hidden in the basement by his owners.

According to the rescue organization, humane officers carried the dog because his ‘legs were solid ice’ and unable to stand. Humane agents didn’t think the dog would make it to the hospital, but they were going to do their best to help. They immediately wrapped him in warm blankets and loaded him into the van. His body temperature was so low, it didn’t read on the thermometer.

He is currently at the emergency vet hospital and is now fighting for his life. His prognosis is unknown at this time, but he is a senior and a loveable pup; everything possible is being done to save his life.

His new name is Riser, and he has been named after a local restaurant where many of the humane agents frequently visit to unwind.

And as Riser fights for his life, the organization posted more pets needing to be rescued from the intense cold just today!

10 more dogs rescued! ALL are dehydrated. Frozen water or no water. Insufficient shelter. Frost wounds, sores. All with varying degrees of medical needs from years of neglect.
We don’t have words to share anymore. Our hearts are all officially broken. Our spirits are low. We are continuing to push through.
Thank you to Mahoning County Dog Warden for coming out and helping rescue animals today. Please share. Keep us all in your thoughts. we have rescued 27 animals in the last 36 Hrs.
