A fire broke out on the hillside near Gilman Drive and Via Alicante in La Jolla Thursday, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, leading to evacuations in the immediate area.
As flames spread over about one acre, authorities evacuated homes along Bremerton Place, Sugarman Drive and Via Mallorca, according to the police and fire officials.
There are no reports of structural damage.
Firefighters also dealt with a remote South Bay blaze Thursday, which has burned roughly 10 acres in the area of Otay Mountain Truck Trail in the Otay Wilderness Area.
Officials estimate that blaze, the Border Fire, has the potential to spread to about 200 acres.
The latest fires come on the heels of multiple small fires that have begun locally during the latest round of red-flag conditions in San Diego. The latest burned approximately seven acres in Rancho Bernardo Wednesday, a fire that also temporarily forced residents from their homes.
