In Louisville, Kentucky, a golden retriever had been abandoned in the parking lot of Lowe’s near Bashford Manor. The fierce snowstorm had been on January 6, and who would have ever imagined finding a dog outside in the freezing cold left to fend for himself in more than 10 inches of snow?
The dog’s fur had been frozen to the snow.

According to the Golden Retriever Rescue & Adoption of Needy Dogs, a Good Samaritan, who had been visiting from Houston, spotted the dog and took him to the Louisville Metro Animal Services, hoping the dog’s family would be looking for him and come to the shelter to reclaim their dog.

Unfortunately, his family never came for the dog, and he was released to GRRAND.
He has been appropriately named Jack Frost, and he has been spending his time in a foster home.

Here is what his foster mom has to say…
“Jack is very sweet and starting to come out of his shell. He is recovering from his neuter so we are keeping him separate from our dogs until he’s had a chance to heal. All the dogs have met through the gate and you can tell Jack is really looking forward to having some friends to play with very soon. He has met our cat, and he adores her and is quite respectful of her boundaries. He does sit and lie on command for me and is not a huge tugger on the leash (although he has some room to improve on leash walking). He appears to be house trained and has had no accidents in the house. Given the last few chaotic weeks of his life I’d say this is a very good sign.”

Jack Frost will soon be available for adoption. He is believed to be a year old and is healthy.
