In Montebello, California, just a few miles east of downtown Los Angeles, another small dog had been abandoned this week as if she was yesterday’s trash. For the last three days, she would sneak into a family’s yard, then run back to the corner of the street and dash back to hide behind the bushes.

Perhaps she was checking back at the corner where she had been left on her own? Perhaps her family would come back for her?
No doubt this dog had never been on her own. She certainly had not been a stray scavenging the streets for food. And to make life even more complicated and ultimately more difficult for the dog, she was “hugely pregnant.”

Suzette Hall, founder of Logan’s Legacy 29, had been called to help. When she arrived the dog was visibly shaking.

The kind family left her a blanket and food and water. She would growl when they tried to help her.
Suzette set up the baby gates in the corner of the yard so she would not be able to run away, and then it was time to calm the terrified dog. So, Suzette sat on the ground near her and talked with her. She assured the frightened pup she was there to help.

After a few minutes, Suzette was able to get her slip lead around the dog, but she was having none of it. What a fight she put up, but soon she was safely in a crate.

And it was then she started kissing my hand
She was so thankful.
On the way to Hall’s partner veterinarian, the dog fell asleep. When examined, it was confirmed she was pregnant with four or five puppies. She is now safe and warm.
She will never have to run to that corner again looking to see if her human was coming back. She won’t have to have her puppies alone.
Meet Sienna. She is rescued.
Rescued in loving memory of my angel
