New York, NY – A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for southern Connecticut, northeastern New Jersey and southeastern New York from 1 p.m. Sunday until 4 a.m. Monday.
Heavy snowfall of between 5 to 7 inches is expected. Roads, bridges and overpasses will likely become slick and dangerous, according to the National Weather Service. Travel conditions in affected areas may be hazardous.
The storm is expected to intensify by Sunday afternoon, the rate of snowfall will increase by evening. Residents are advised to avoid unnecessary travel. If travel is necessary, keep emergency supplies like a flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle.
The hardest-hit areas include northern Fairfield, northern New Haven, and northern Middlesex County in Connecticut. In New Jersey, areas such as western Bergen and western Essex counties are under warnings. New York counties including Orange, Putnam and Rockland should also prepare for dangerous conditions.
