A <a href="https://www.motorbiscuit.com/tag/police/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">police</a> report from April of 2023 revealed Darden was involved in a road rage incident that ended with him threatening the other driver with a gun. </p>
<p id="par-2_13">When the incident happened, he was a campus police officer at Cheyney University.</p>
<p id="par-3_45">Court documents from the case read the other driver claimed Darden fired a shot from the gun, but Darden denied it in court. Police Chief Shanee Mitchell told <a href="https://6abc.com/post/collingdale-police-officer-kevon-darden-resigns-being-charged-alleged-road-rage-incident/15807590/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">ABC</a> that the department had issued an “in-depth” background check, but the report came back clean. </p>
<p id="par-4_19">“It was shocking and a little skeptical because these charges were not there prior to today,” Mitchell said. </p>
<p id="par-5_23">The Fraternal Order of Police, the world’s largest organization of sworn law officers, said the lapse in judgment made Mitchell look bad. </p>
<p id="par-6_21">“The FOP has lost all confidence in the chief to lead this department,” said Christopher Eiserman, President of the FOP. </p>
<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-lead-officer-said-she-could-care-less-what-they-think">The lead officer said she could care less what they think</h2>
<p id="par-7_17">When reporters made Mitchell aware of the FOP President’s opinion, she seemed to shrug it off. </p>
<p id="par-8_22">“Yeah, I really have nothing to say about [the FOP]. I don’t know them. That’s their opinion, so be it,” she said.</p>
<p id="par-9_13">The opinion of the outlet’s viewers echoed the negative sentiments of Eiserman. </p>
<p id="par-10_20">“There are no hiring standards,” wrote a viewer. “We have officers that couldn’t pass even the most basic psych test.”</p>
<p id="par-11_9">Someone else said they were surprised he quit. </p>
<p id="par-12_9">“I’m surprised they didn’t promote him,” they wrote. </p>
<p id="par-13_21">Others said it was concerning how easy it was for someone with a violent past to become a police officer. </p>
<p id="par-14_11">“I guess that department will just hire anyone now,” they said.</p>
