Eenie, meenie, miney, ah, screw it. Take the Porsche 911 and leave the Tesla.
A string of unimaginably destructive fires have prompted evacuation notices for nearly 200,000 people in California. Tragically, the fires have forced residents to make hard decisions. This Porsche owner, however, seemed to decide between his limited-run 911 and a Tesla Model Y without hesitation.
A security camera captured an owner moving his Tesla to rescue his limited-edition Porsche 911 from California fires
A viral video with over 165,000 likes shows a man scrambling to recover his beloved car from California fires. The video is courtesy of a residential security camera and shows an alley between modern LA homes. In the footage, two men approach a short driveway in a gray Ford F-150. One man hops out of the passenger side of the pickup truck and approaches a Tesla Model Y.
The owner unlocks the Tesla and slides into the driver’s seat. His friend in the Ford F-150 runs up to the rear of the Tesla to unplug its charger. However, just when you think he’s going to pull away in the popular EV SUV, he parks it off to the side. The Model Y was blocking the path to the owner’s real prize, his limited-run Porsche 911.
But this is no typical 911. It’s a 2024 Porsche 911 S/T. Now, Porsche built just 1,963 S/T models for consumers. Why 1,963? It’s a tip of the Zuffenhausen brand’s cap to the first year of the 911 nameplate: 1963.
Understandably, the vehicle’s owner was motivated to rescue the $290,000 Porsche from the blazing fires currently plaguing the LA area. Even with the chaos of the situation, the owner was able to hop into the driver’s seat and start the Porsche 911 S/T.
Moments later, the Porsche 911 backs out into the alley. Much to the relief of die-hard Porsche fans everywhere, the 911 S/T straightens out and pulls away with the Ford pickup truck close behind. However, the black Tesla Model Y remained after the two vehicles departed. It’s unclear whether the fires claimed the EV.
