Just days before Faith Easdale, Jim Ralston, Cathi Perez and Rachel Wagner were asked to embark on another trip to Lytle Creek, California, to rescue two more tiny dogs heartlessly dumped in the eastern part of the San Gabriel Mountains, they had saved two other dogs who had been scavenging for food and tirelessly evading predators since mid-December 2024.

The team spent the night waiting for the dogs to enter the humane crates set up, but the tiny survivors – one Chihuahua and one Maltese trusted no one. The traps had been set up side by side, but eventually the Chihuahua couldn’t resist the tempting food. And then the wait was on for his pal – success after a few more hours; both dogs and rescuers all safe at last.

But no sooner had the two dogs been vetted, bathed and groomed, and no sooner than the popular rescuers had been settling into an evening with their own families, another frantic message arrived; two more tiny dogs had been spotted. The dogs ran into the ravine and disappeared.
And then Rachel spotted them! Faith had to act quickly.

I called Jim in a panic. Jim drove up quickly and spotted them right away. They had to be starving and he was able to rescue them both and they actually both went into the same trap.
Fortunately, the two are now safe, surviving against all odds. Whoever has been intentionally abandoning tiny and truly defenseless dogs is truly despicable.

Still the heroes follow the ones in their most desperate times.
