At the Humane Society of Broward County (HSBC) in Florida, there is just so much sadness in Hershey’s eyes. The Labrador retriever is eight-years-old, calm, gentle and devoted to people. Her story is heartbreaking; she was picked up as a stray and brought to the local shelter, but because of her age and arthritis, she was transferred to the HSBC. Her family never came to the shelter to take her home.

No one knows where she came from or anything about her past, but she loves to be with people, and her favorite spot is right by someone’s side. Her friends at the shelter tell us she’s friendly, likes other dogs and walks well on a leash. She even knows her basic commands of sit, stay and lie down.
Hershey needs to build her self-confidence, which will surely help her enjoy her senior years. She’s obviously ready to retire, but some leisurely strolls and fun adventures sound like just what will make this sweet girl shine.
