A reckless driver was arrested after being caught speeding at an alarming 106 mph in a school zone, putting countless lives at risk. However, when the cops managed to pull the driver over, she refused to get out of the car, instead choosing to run like hell. Fortunately, her hair-brained crime didn’t last long.
Cops arrested a driver going 106 mph in a school zone, she says ‘I’m trying to comply with you’
If you’ve driven for any amount of time, you’ve likely taken a trip through a school zone. Understandably, school zones typically have lower speed limits to protect frequently crossing children and families. Consequently, it’s a big deal when a cop sees a motorist driving over four times the speed limit in a 25-mph school zone.
A driver in a Hyundai SUV blew through a school zone going 106 mph at around 1:46 p.m. That’s 81 mph over the posted speed limit and more than enough for an arrest. A police officer noticed the reckless driver and pulled out after her.
Fortunately, the driver stopped for the pursuing police officer. Body camera footage recorded the interaction between the cop and the speeding motorist. “Turn the car off and step out,” the police officer told the woman. “Why? I’m trying to comply. I’m trying to comply with you,” she responded.
The officer responded by saying, “Your compliance is going to be getting out of this car.” That’s when the motorist refused the request. “I’m not going to get out of this car.” Incidentally, she didn’t seem too concerned with being arrested for her heinous driving.
After a brief exchange, the officer explained that the woman was under arrest for reckless endangerment. She responded with a tirade, “For what? “Who am I endangering? I’m trying to go to school, I’m trying to go to work. I’m not going to your jail. Could I just get the ticket, please?”
Surprisingly, she decided her best course of action was to attempt to run for it. She tried to start the SUV and put it in drive. The police officer lunged into the open door, wrestling the gear selector out of her hands. He then pulled her out of the gold Hyundai and arrested her.
Understandably, some viewers were disturbed by the driver’s reckless disregard for the school zone speed limit. “She should never be allowed to operate a vehicle again,” one user commented. Another viewer responded, “Felony endangerment, resisting arrest, [and] attempting to flee. I hope she gets put away for a LONG time.”
