In South Los Angeles, a friendly, abandoned dog yearned to be rescued. Most dogs who have been tossed out like trash are too afraid to approach their rescuers. The time and patience exhibited by these extraordinary volunteers give us all hope that angels really do exist; whether ethereal or mortal, we are all grateful.

Last week rescue volunteer, Denisse Maldonado contacted Suzette Hall, founder of Logan’s Legacy 29, about a dog on the 710 Freeway in South Los Angeles. The Chow Chow mix had been at the dangerous location for more than a week, and he was so desperate for help, he would come running towards Denise because he knew she was there to feed him. She had slowly gained his trust.
He would come running he was so excited.
Thankfully Sandra Viveros Jackson was willing to help rescue and foster him.

He haD been living on the top of the freeway on ramp for about a week. Denise Maldonado had been feeding him for that week and she was slowly gaining his trust . When we got there he ran down knowing that she was there to feed him . We tried getting him with a slip leash and almost got him but it didn’t work. My trap was also too small for such a big dog
so I called Suzette Hall and she quickly said yes to helping us and bringing her large trap. Once we got it set up it was a waiting game. Then finally he went in and the trap door closed . Now he is finally safe and no longer sleeping on a dangerous freeway.
The women carried the trap to where the dog had been fed. He had been so perilously close to the freeway; his life could have been snuffed out at anytime by a swerving vehicle.

The dog spotted the women and ran towards Denise when he spotted her. He had never tasted a hot dog before, and this treat was too much to resist. It didn’t take long until he was safely in the trap. Even after the door of the kennel closed, he continued to eat.

We were so happy
A sweet little chow mix kept eating after the door closed
And gave out a huge smile because he knew he was safe
No longer hearing all the freeway noise at night
No more lonely days
Never has to worry about when food is coming ever again
Sandra and Denisse you are truly his heroes
