WPBN: The sentencing of a guy who was found guilty of kidnapping two women and putting one of them in a cinderblock cell is scheduled to take place later this month. The prosecution is seeking a term of life in prison for the defendant.
Never in the history of the world should Negasi Zuberi be allowed to kidnap, beat, or sexually attack another woman. In a court filing that was submitted on Wednesday, the prosecution claimed that they believe he should be sentenced to life in prison.
The 30-year-old man was found guilty by a federal jury in October of kidnapping a lady in Seattle, sexually assaulting her, transporting her to southern Oregon, and putting her in a makeshift jail in his garage.
The crime was committed in October of last year. The woman was able to break out of the cell and summon the assistance of a passing motorist, who then dialed 911.
The footage from the security cameras also showed Zuberi purchasing cinderblocks from a Home Depot in the neighborhood in order to create the cell. Evidence, as well as firearms and ammunition, as well as video recordings, were discovered at Zuberi’s residence and vehicle.
According to the evidence filed in the court, Zuberi was also connected to an earlier, second kidnapping that occurred in May 2023.
In this case, he kidnapped a lady outside of a Klamath Falls pub, threatened her with a taser, chained her in the back of his car, and then sexually assaulted her many times.
In the materials that were submitted to the court, the United States Attorney for the District of Oregon, along with two assistant United States Attorneys, referred to Zuberi as a “dangerous, motivated, and persistent predator.”

In the following section, they went into depth about his history of convictions for assault and sexual abuse, beginning with the conviction he received in 2017 for having sexual relations with a 16-year-old when he was 23 years old.
They went on to say that Zuberi made two separate attempts to flee from the Jackson County Jail, which is located in southern Oregon. Photos show a makeshift chisel that Zuberi allegedly built with a sandal and a screw.
This chisel was used to break the small window of his cell during his first attempt, which was previous to his conviction in October of last year.
In the third week after the initial incident, Zuberi is said to have broken another piece of glass by using a mop bucket wheel. Each of the two attempts to flee was unsuccessful.
